Getting In (Pt 1) – The Start

February 8th, 2012 · 1 Comment

I want to enter Agriculture as an owner and the following is the beginning of my story to “get in” to Australian Agriculture

I didnt know where to start.

In an industry that is crying out for young people to join up because the current generation of farmers are “dying on the tractor” I found it extremly hard to find some basic info on starting out in Agriculture. I would think this would be the first thing that industry groups would look at instead of having more talk fests about the “worrying” state of Australian Agriculture and the decline of young people taking up Ag Sciences (HINT, HINT!)

It all started with a tweet

January 18th, 2012 · No Comments

To set the scene: I was at my local shopping mall on Sunday as I needed to pick up a few things, it was rather late and as I hadn’t had anything to eat for lunch a went to see what was available for a snack. As I had wisely decided to do this as many shops in the food court were shut or closing, I was left with only 1 choice and as you could probably tell it was McDonalds.
After eating my Nugget meal deal (Large) I sent out a tweet or 2 and this is the conversation that followed:

The importance of #client

January 16th, 2012 · 1 Comment

I like Twitter, I think its a great and quick way to communicate with each other right around the world.

I also like how twitter helps you build trust by engaging with people.

I dislike however when people use the trust they have built with followers, to flog product/services/events etc that they are paid to promote. Now I don’t mind people promoting things, lets be honest everyone needs to make money but while we are being honest, you need to be open to your twitter followers too.

Hashtag it!

January 5th, 2012 · No Comments

A few days ago I tweeted out and asked if anyone had any Social Media topics they wanted covered. I got a tweet a few hours later from Ron Paynter (@payntacow) asking about hashtags in tweets. Ron asked a few questions (Below) which I will attempt to answer.

But hang on, what is a Hashtag??

Well the official definition according to Twitter is: The # symbol, called a hashtag, is used to mark keywords or topics in a Tweet. It was created organically by Twitter users as a way to categorise messages. For example, if i used #agchatoz in a tweet, anyone that searches for the AgChatOZ hashtag will see my tweet

My Twitter Guided Wine Tour

December 23rd, 2011 · No Comments

I think its safe to say I like Twitter.

I also like visiting vineyards (among other things)

So earlier in the year I decided to combine both of these and have my own Twitter Guided Wine Tour.

I didnt know if it would work, what if the Wineries weren’t open or they weren’t using their twitter account or they just didnt want me to visit? These were the thoughts running through my mind as I started the trip.

Wine adventures

December 14th, 2011 · No Comments

Ive always considered myself a Beer and Chips kind of guy, quite far away from the Wine and Cheese end of the spectrum (But equally far away from the Goon bag and 2 Minute noodles part of the spectrum too!)

But over the past 2ish years I have been drinking a lot more wine than is usual for me,
